Lidl and Telekom Romania win Deloitte Green Frog Award competition in Romania
22 January 2019
Lidl and Telekom Romania are the winners of the 2018 edition of Deloitte Green Frog Award competition in Romania. Both companies have thus qualified for the next stage of the competition which is due to take place early this year at regional level. The international competition recognizes excellence in corporate non-financial and integrated reporting in Central Europe and other selected regions.
The fourth edition of the Green Frog Award was entered in Romania by companies from a variety of sectors such as banking, financial services, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, IT and oil and gas. The winners were decided by an independent jury who considered indicators such as sustainability performance and strategic engagement, materiality, content, structure and creativity in communication, impact measurement, financial and non-financial integration of data.
“Lidl and Telekom Romania’s reports have shown very strong strategic commitments, following a solid materiality matrix. These reports are a proof of transparency, responsibility and respect towards all companies’ stakeholders. In addition, they have also stood out as brand signatures, demonstrating creativity in both graphic design and in the structure of the report,” said Andrei Ionescu, Risk Advisory Partner, Deloitte Romania.
“We are very proud that the first Lidl sustainability report received the Green Frog Award. It is an important distinction and a proof that we have elaborated a valuable report, with relevant results and objectives, recognized by experts in the field. Through our sustainable business model, through the social responsibility measures we undertake and with each sustainability report, we hope to contribute to Romania’s sustainable development and to inspire other companies to join us in this endeavor,” said Cristina Hanganu, Communications & CSR Director, Lidl Romania.
“Deloitte Green Fog Award gathers very competitive contestants and we feel honored for being winners of the local competition this year. This accomplishment certifies Telekom Romania’s efforts to implement sustainable measures as part of the company’s strategy and plans targeting transformation in our organizational processes and culture. We are looking forward with optimism to the next stage of the competition,” said Florina Serban, Corporate Responsibility Expert, Telekom Romania.
Each year, over 60 reports from various industries join competitors across Central and Eastern Europe for the regional stage of the Green Frog Award. Since 2015, GFA has been split into national and regional stages of the competition. The reports that win on a national level qualify for the regional level.
Romanian companies have qualified for the regional stage of the competition in past editions. The 2017 edition in Romania had, so far, the largest number of companies to take part in the Green Frog Award and was won by Raiffeisen Bank, which further qualified for the regional stage of the competition.
