Robotic Process Automation (RPA)

It’s not just about technology.

Deloitte’s Robotic Process Automation (RPA) offering delivers automated and improved business processes, making your organization more effective, efficient, and increasing capacity in your teams.

Your challenge today

You are facing increased pressure to reduce costs, while increasing quality and customer satisfaction. However, complex IT landscapes and limited IT budgets make automation and other IT changes in organizations too long and costly. This results in a high number of administrative tasks with low added value to customers and shareholders.

How Deloitte can help

Deloitte’s Robotic Process Automation (RPA) offering delivers automated and improved business processes, making your organization more effective, efficient, and increasing capacity in your teams. We assess your needs and match your requirements with technology that suits your purposes.

RPA proofs to support in automation of repetitive activities, and thereby freeing up your workforce, achieving cost reductions and service improvements. Activities are performed faster, without errors, and without any changes to your current IT landscape.

Defining RPA

Robotic Process Automation is a way to automate repetitive activities. Dedicated robotic software emulates human execution of repetitive processes with existing applications. It can be used to automate all processes across functions that are highly repetitive, prone to error, rules based, and time critical and/or seasonal; Shared Services is a good place to start the journey.

Existing IT applications are captured and interpreted by software, also known as a ‘robot’, to perform routine business processes such as transaction processing, data manipulation and communication across multiple IT systems. Entire end-to-end processes can be performed by the software robots, usually human interaction is only required to handle exceptions. Multiple robots can be seen as a virtual workforce.

Benefits of RPA

Benefits of this virtual workforce go beyond cost reduction, and include

  • 24/7 availability
  • Increased process efficiency and speed
  • Improved accuracy (quality) during the execution of the process
  • Flexibility and scalability
  • Increased security
  • Increased employee morale – employees are free to add more value
  • No changes are required to the current IT landscape

A RPA strategy in five steps

The development of a process robotics strategy for your organization follows five steps, looking beyond the initial deployment to the growth of Process Robotics in the organization:

  1. Perform an assessment to identify robotization opportunities
  2. Build your business case
  3. Determine which operating model is optimal
  4. Identify your partner(s) in RPA
  5. Plan the Robotics roadmap
