Impact Day 2019
Decisions magazine - Issue 13
On 2 August, over 500 Deloitte volunteers spread out across our sunny island, committing their time and effort to various causes during our annual Impact Day! Here are some of the activities our volunteers took part in that made an impact to the Singapore community
Impact Day is our annual celebration of our commitment to our community, where our people in our practices across the region take time out of the office to give back to the local communities where we work and live in, through a diverse range of activities.
Plant-a-tree sapling at Windsor Nature Park
Our volunteers headed down to Windsor Nature Park to plant 50 tree saplings under the Garden City Fund, managed by the National Parks Board. They also learned more about the importance of sustainability for our little red dot. This activity is part of the Plant-A-Tree programme and advances Deloitte's sustainability goals.
Great Outdoor Adventure with Northlight School
At NorthLight School’s annual Great Outdoor Adventure, our volunteers played alongside the students in various sporting activities, including running, kayaking, dragon boating, a ninja warrior obstacle course, and gaming booths. The victorious smiles on the students’ faces when they successfully conquered the obstacle course, and their joyful laughter as they scored a goal in dodgeball certainly made the day of our volunteers.
Activities with Metta Welfare Association children and elderly
In collaboration with Metta Welfare Association, our volunteers had the chance to help the beneficiaries of all ages – from pre-school children to the elderly. Some of our volunteers helped to ensure the safety of the pre-school children with special needs, as they experienced a fun time at PLAYtopia, The Rock School, and Clip n’ Climb. At the same time, activities like bowling with Metta school’s students, Clay art with preschool children and art therapy sessions with elderly were carried out simultaneously. The love for the community were spread through the words and actions of our volunteers, and our volunteers’ hearts were filled.
Other Impact Day activities:
- Outing at Jewel Changi with the elderly from AWWA’s Senior Community Home
- Blood donation at Red Cross Bloodbank
- Beach clean-up at Lazarus Island
