In this video, Meredyth shares what’s it like to work in Audit and what you’ll need to succeed.

Career options

In our Audit teams, we help to protect the public interest. Learning alongside some of the best professionals, you’ll enable organisations across every sector to be transparent about what they do, build stronger systems of quality control, increase their capability to manage risk and, most crucially, grow the confidence of the public. We respond to emerging issues and risks, and make sure that the information that companies report is clear and reliable.

  • Large & Complex Audit: We work with a wide range of clients including banks, insurers, public sector organisations and some of the largest listed organisations around the world.
  • Portfolio Audit: We focus on the audit of entrepreneurial, high growth businesses. Our clients span a wide range of sectors including privately owned corporates, real estate funds, pension schemes, financial services brokers, investment managers, securitisations and other organisations.

We also have the following opportunities available in Audit & Assurance on our Technology page. If you would like to apply to any of these roles, remember to select ‘Technology’ when you are asked which career path you would like to apply to.

  • Assurance Analytics: We help our clients with three main activities – data, models and analytics, giving assurance over what they’ve produced, or helping to improve them. The breadth of our work spans across industries including Banking and Capital Markets, Investment Management, Private Equity, Insurance, Public Sector, Retail, and Oil and Gas.
  • IT Specialists - Audit: We work across all parts of the audit business to assess the risk around IT systems that generate financially relevant information. You’ll learn how IT supports business objectives and key processes. Our purpose is to serve the public interest and help give confidence that the financial information going out to stakeholders (e.g. shareholders, employees, regulators etc.) is correct. As part of your graduate opportunity, you will have the option to study towards the ACA qualification with either ICAS or ICAEW depending on which country you are based. Other relevant certifications such as CISA are offered during your career with us.
  • IT Specialists – Assurance: We work on a variety of projects with some great clients – focusing on IT assurance. All of the core skills you develop through IT Audit will stand you in good stead for this broader IT assurance work. As part of your graduate opportunity, you will have the option to study towards the ACA qualification with either ICAS or ICAEW depending on which country you are based. Other relevant certifications such as CISA are offered during your career with us.

To be resilient, businesses must be ready to respond to current and future challenges and opportunities. They’re also being required to be more transparent with their reporting, to drive trust and confidence in the market, and protect the wider public interest. We provide independent assurance across a range of areas, to support organisations in their strategic decision making. During our Assurance graduate programmes you’ll either complete the CIMA qualification (for Analytics) or the ACA qualification (For all other areas of Assurance). Both of these will help you to develop a strategic mindset.

If you select to work in a Non-Analytics area of Assurance, you’ll spend a portion of our programme supporting our wider Audit teams whilst also gaining knowledge of Analytics assurance, you’ll then have the opportunity to specialise within Assurance for the remainder of the programme. The breadth of our work spans across industries including Banking and Capital Markets, Investment Management, Private Equity, Insurance, Public Sector, Retail, Manufacturers and Oil and Gas.

The team here provides remote support to our nationwide client engagement teams in completing tasks associated with the audit of statutory accounts. It involves day-to-day liaison with our client facing colleagues, and will enable you to develop an understanding of company accounts. Roles are available for entry level apprentices who are leaving school. You will be completing your Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Level 4 apprenticeship whilst working in our team and become a subject matter expert in company accounts. As part of this, you will attend college to study AAT level 4 with your peers.
