Dbriefs Webcast

(Aired 28 September 2023)

Host: Sarah Lord

Presenters: Sarah Goodman

The UK is undergoing its widest reform of the R&D legislation for many years, with legislation published introducing new reporting requirements and extending the definition of R&D for tax purposes and introducing new qualifying cost categories. Consideration is also being given to the potential merger of the SME and RDEC schemes into a single consolidated set of rules.  What does this mean for R&D claimants? We’ll discuss:

  • The policy intent behind the regimes and ongoing reforms
  • ·Key changes to the R&D definition to include pure maths and data and cloud computing costs, and the introduction of claim notifications and additional information forms
  • Practical implications for claimants and how to comply
  • Potential future changes regarding overseas R&D spend and a consolidated R&D regime

Keep up-to-date with this developing area and
understand the drivers and practical implications behind these changes. In
addition to providing an overview of the reforms, our experts will close the
session with an interactive Q&A to answer some of the key questions
arising.  To aid in preparation please submit any questions you may have in advance.
