Early careers bloom with new ‘Spring into Deloitte’ programmes

Deloitte will welcome 160 undergraduate students to its annual early careers programme: Spring into Deloitte. The programme, now in its ninth year, will debut two new courses in April: ‘Young Black Professionals’ and ‘Women in Technology’, in addition to its existing ‘Regional Careers Global Impact’ programme.
Students will attend a three-day virtual introductory course where they will learn about the firm and a career in professional services and can act as the first step to a successful career at Deloitte.
The introduction of the new course ‘Young Black Professionals’ was inspired by Deloitte’s Black Action Plan and the firm’s belief that everyone, irrespective of their race, ethnicity, or background, should have equal opportunities to thrive. This programme is in addition to the recent announcement of a new bursary scheme for students of Black, Asian and minority ethnic heritage and from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, with Deloitte’s 5 Million Future’s charity partner Blueprint for All.
The second new course ‘Women in Technology’ will introduce women to the firm’s technology and digital sectors as well as showcasing how Deloitte supports women choosing a career in this sector.

Chloe Tan, an associate in audit and assurance at Deloitte, attended Spring into Deloitte in 2019 and joined the graduate programme in 2021. Chloe said: “I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to meet the Deloitte team and start building my career from my first year at university,” added Chloe.
“By the time I applied for the graduate scheme, I already had a good network of people who gave me advice as well as the confidence to take the next step in my future. It was a valuable experience to help me decide what I wanted from an internship as well as my future career.”
Korede Bola-Aileru, a consultant in risk advisory at Deloitte, also attended Spring into Deloitte in 2019 and joined the graduate programme in 2021. Korede said: “Joining Spring into Deloitte in my first year of university was the key event that helped me decide on a career in risk advisory. Not only did I become accustomed to Deloitte, but the experience gave me the opportunity to try out a new business discipline before graduating.”

About Spring into Deloitte
Spring into Deloitte is a three-day course for first year undergraduate students interested in a career at Deloitte involving business games, skills sessions, debate and discovery. Candidates can be fast tracked onto the Summer Vacation Scheme for the following year. For 2022, Deloitte will be offering the following three events: Women in Technology, Young Black Professionals, Regional Careers and Global Impact.
Spring into Deloitte will be held virtually in April and will welcome 80 students to the Women in Technology programme and 40 students to both the Young Black Professionals and the Regional Careers Global Impact programmes.
To apply, candidates need to meet certain academic requirements and complete an online application form. Candidates are selected to take part in the next stage; an immersive online assessment and job simulation, both of which are held online. Young Black Professionals will run from Wednesday 20 April 2022 – Friday 22 April 2022;
Regional Careers Global Impact will run from Monday 11 April 2022 – Wednesday 13 April 2022; and
Women in Technology will run from Tuesday 12 April 2022 – Thursday 14 April 2022.
About bursaries for students with Blueprint for All
Together with the firm’s charity partner Blueprint for All, the new bursary scheme is designed for students of Black, Asian, and minority ethnic heritage and from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, to support their ambitions to carve out a successful future.
Each student is awarded £2,250 per year for three years of study as part of Deloitte’s 5 Million Futures programme at Birmingham City University, University of Greenwich, University of Kent, Manchester Metropolitan University, University of Portsmouth and University of Hertfordshire.
