Celebrating the accomplishments of people with disabilities: meet Thiago
Thiago’s story challenges us to think deeply about the way we demonstrate our values around inclusive leadership in everyday interactions. Do we make assumptions about how another person or group wishes to be treated, based on how we feel? Do we take action when we see inequity or non-inclusive behaviors?
Spotlight: Deloitte's People with Disabilities & Allies Community
In an ongoing effort to foster a culture in which people feel valued and heard and identities are celebrated, Deloitte has eight national communities that offer our professionals more options to connect in ways most meaningful to them. Deloitte’s People with Disabilities & Allies (PwD&A) Community is a diverse group of people with self-identified disabilities, including sensory, mobility, neurological, intellectual, or learning and developmental, whose primary purpose is to provide opportunities to connect and build support networks.
Additionally the PwD&A community is the driving force behind our enhanced collaboration with Disability:IN, a leading nonprofit resource for business disability inclusion worldwide.
Our latest awards

Meet our community
The inclusion of individuals with disabilities in the workforce is not only a critical DEI priority, but one that broadens an organization’s total talent pool. The unique skillsets of individuals with disabilities in a psychologically safe environment can strengthen a workforce’s ability to think through the complex challenges facing today’s companies in fresh and creative ways, providing new solutions to persistent problems. Fostering a culture of openness, authenticity, and support is paramount to the long-term success of any inclusive company structure. Please see below to learn more about some of the members of our growing community.
Meet Patrick McElrath
To his colleagues at Deloitte, Patrick McElrath is known simply as Mac. But many may not know that he adopted the moniker from his days serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. Mac served two years as an Army Ranger before a devastating combat injury left him permanently paralyzed from the waist down.
