Deloitte’s 2022 Global Automotive Consumer Study—now in its 13th year—explores which consumer trends and disruptive technologies will have the most impact in the post-pandemic world.

Based on surveys with more than 26,000 consumers from 25 countries, the study illuminates consumers’ feelings about advanced technologies, electric vehicles, purchase experience, and more. It also shows how companies should prioritize their business strategies and investments in the year to come.

This year’s study surfaced four key trends:

  1. Willingness to pay for advanced technologies remains limited.
  2. Interest in electric vehicles is driven by lower running costs and better experience.
  3. In-person purchase experiences are still preferred by many.
  4. Personal vehicles continue to be the preferred mode of transportation.
