A select group of independent members comprises our judging panel

Canada’s Best Managed Companies applications are reviewed each year by a judging panel that decides which companies will be awarded the ‘Best Managed’ designation. This judging panel is comprised of members from each of our program sponsors and rotating special guest representatives.

Chinmaya Thakore – Special advisor

Chinmaya is a Partner at Deloitte Private, Toronto with over 19 years of experience in public accounting. Chinmaya brings an exceptional understanding of the private company business environment in various ownership structures including, businesses owned by pension funds and private equity, professional partnerships and foreign parent corporations. 

David Chelich


David is currently Sector Head, Global Energy and Diversified Industries for the TMX Group Inc. In his role, David is responsible for developing and implementing sector listings business development strategy and tactics for both the Energy and Diversified Industries practices for the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and TSX Venture Exchange (TSXV). Prior to joining the TMX Inc., David spent 25 years in the Canadian capital markets industry in both investment banking and institutional equity sales roles. David holds a Masters in Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Calgary, Haskayne School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science and Economics) from the University of Alberta. 

Dawn Calleja

Dawn Calleja is the Editor of Report on Business magazine. She has more than 20 years of experience as a long-form editor and has written for a variety of publications, including The Globe and Mail, Cottage Life, Today's Parent, enRoute and Reader's Digest. She has taught feature writing at Ryerson University's School of Journalism and leads the Canadian arm of the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing, which hands out the annual Best in Business Canada Awards.

Debra Doucette


As President and Chief Executive Officer, Debra leads Odlum Brown – a Canada’s Best Managed Companies Platinum Club member with 22 years in the program – with objective and strategic insight developed from an accomplished career in the investment industry spanning over 35 years. Debra joined Odlum Brown in 1991, and prior to becoming President and CEO in 2007, she was Chief Operating Officer for seven years. 

Debra has earned a reputation for her vision, passion and dedication as a leader in the business community, and for her philanthropic contributions. In 2021, Debra was honoured with the Order of British Columbia for her community leadership, and in 2017 was recognized nationally as a Canada’s Most AdmiredTM CEO. She is currently Chair of alumni UBC, and a board member of Providence Health Care, Drug Free Kids Canada, the UBC Sauder School of Business Faculty Advisory Board and the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC).

Dino Medves

Dino Medves is SVP & Head of CIBC Commercial Banking Canada. 

Dino joined CIBC in 2010 and has over 30 years of experience in commercial and business banking in a variety of roles across Canada. He has worked in both Eastern and Western Canada in a senior capacity. Dino currently leads Diversified Markets commercial banking activities nationally for CIBC where the Bank provides a full suite of financing, cash management and transactional services for companies across a broad spectrum of industries.

Margaret Stuart

As Country Manager for Salesforce Canada, Margaret Stuart is responsible for leading the growth strategy and business operations to deliver customer success and digital transformations. 

Margaret was previously the Senior Vice President of Sales and Operations at Blackberry where she was responsible for BlackBerry’s enterprise software go-to-market, global Inside Sales and the BlackBerry Workspaces solution. Prior to this, Margaret was Vice President, North American Business Development at SAP. 

Margaret has more than 20 years of experience in sales, go-to-market and product management with technology companies including Longview Solutions and Siemens Healthcare (now Cerner). 

Margaret received the Globe and Mail Best Executive Award in 2021, is a board member at Elevate, and has a B.A. in Computer Science from Trinity College Dublin. She is also a graduate of The Judy Project, a Rotman School leadership forum. 

Suresh Madan

Suresh Madan is a healthcare entrepreneur. As the president and CEO of MyHealth Centre, he runs a chain of 50 multi-specialty healthcare facilities across Ontario offering primary, secondary care and diagnostic centres. MyHealth was recently acquired by WELL Health Technologies Corp for $266.3M.

Suresh has over 30 years of international experience as manager, investor, and entrepreneur and is active in various community organizations and currently serving on TiE Global Board of Trustees, a group comprising of 13,000+ entrepreneurs from 56 different cities across the globe. He is member of American College of Healthcare Executives and was member, portfolio management committee of Toronto CFA Society.

Suresh is Chairman and Director of IIM Americas Inc, the pan-IIM organization representing 2,000+ North American-based alumni of the Indian Institutes of Management. Suresh completed his MBA at IIM Ahmedabad with a gold medal. He holds Chartered Financial Analyst designation, Canadian Investment Manager Designation and graduated in Industrial Engineering.
