Deloitte acquires accountancy firm, Nicole & Tessier Inc.
Montreal, October 31, 2016 — Today Deloitte announced the acquisition of Nicole and Tessier Inc., a chartered accounting firm based in Quebec City and Havre-Saint-Pierre.
The Nicole and Tessier team provides advisory, tax, accounting and assurance services, and will enhance and complement the expertise of Deloitte’s current team. Additionally, the acquisition will boost Deloitte’s presence in the province, bringing the total number of Deloitte offices to 30 in Quebec.
Deloitte’s Quebec City team will have a new partner and several professionals, who will all join the audit practice; as well as, a senior manager who will join the firm’s national assurance group. Three assurance professionals from the Havre-Saint-Pierre office will also join the Deloitte team and continue to serve local clients.
Marc Perron, Deloitte’s Managing Partner for Quebec explained the firm places great emphasis on serving clients in Quebec’s many regions, which includes meeting the diverse needs of private companies located across the province.
“Nicole and Tessier is well-known in Quebec City and Havre-Saint-Pierre for its expertise in advisory services for private companies and for its innovative approach to audit,” said Mr. Perron. “The addition of the Nicole and Tessier team will deepen our expertise and enhance our ability to meet the needs of our clients.”
David Nicole, President of Nicole and Tessier, who is joining Deloitte as an audit partner in the Quebec City office, pointed out that when the Nicole and Tessier team was considering joining Deloitte, they kept coming back to the fact that, as part of Deloitte, they would be able to offer their clients more.
“Joining Deloitte means that we can support our clients from end-to-end,” he said. “We now are in a position to provide more services at the national level, without affecting our commitment to provide cost-effective, high-quality solutions locally. We’re entering the big leagues!”
Deloitte’s Corporate Development Office (CDO) supported the transaction. Deloitte’s CDO actively pursues and responds to organizations through merger, acquisition and alliance opportunities that align with the firm’s commitment to client service excellence.
“This acquisition, like the dozens of other acquisitions we have completed over that last few years, fits very well with the firm’s plans for growth,” said Alexandre Baril, Corporate Development Leader at Deloitte.
