Richard Ginsberg

Richard is a partner in Deloitte’s Financial Advisory practice, currently serving as the practice’s chief operating officer. He specializes in the preparation of valuation and expert reports for the purposes of financial reporting, income tax, mergers and acquisitions, related party transactions, corporate restructurings, and litigation support. The latter can include the provision of fairness opinions, strategic advisory, and board advisory services, all of which benefit from Richard’s wide knowledge of intangible asset valuation.

As an experienced leader of large, complex, and multi-jurisdictional financial advisory projects, Richard has managed collaborative projects with Deloitte teams in the United States, the Caribbean, Japan, Australia, France, Germany, and India.

He presently serves as a board member, executive director, and secretary treasurer for the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators (CICBV) and continues to be associated with various on-going initiatives and activities on behalf of the CICBV.

In 2012, Richard was named to the Valuation Expert Group as part of the International Accounting Standard Board’s education initiative. His expert reports have been used in legal proceedings for the quantification of damages, and he advised clients in areas such as shareholder disputes and economic loss quantification.

Richard has been invited three times to serve as special presenter to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, and is often invited to speak about topics such as business valuation, intellectual property valuation, international financial reporting standards, accounting, fairness opinions, and board advisory.
