Robert Olsen

Robert Olsen leads the Canadian Private Equity business, bringing all that Deloitte has to offer to this sector. Robert is also the global leader for Deloitte’s private company segment within Financial Advisory practice, Chair of Corporate Finance practice and sits on the Global Executive team for Corporate Finance. Robert specializes in advising companies on divestitures, as well as capital advisory to help companies raise investment capital and evaluate their financing options. Robert has 20 years of investing experience and another 12 years of advisory experience. Prior to joining Deloitte in 2009 as a direct admit Partner, Robert spent 20 years split between Goldman Sachs and a merchant banking group. At Goldman, he helped found and lead its on balance sheet investing business for Canada where he invested senior debt, mezzanine and 2nd lien debt, as well as minority equity and control equity into North American public and private businesses. Previously, Robert was a founding partner of a merchant banking group where he raised three pooled private equity funds and used them to acquire mid-market companies in a variety of industries. He was also a former world ranked amateur boxer representing Canada. Robert has sat on the Board of over 30 companies including acting as Chairman of two publicly listed businesses.
