A new vision and more agile approach

In its latest global insight on the future of digital identity, Deloitte discusses new possibilities for public services at the interface of the digital and physical worlds. The need for a new vision of identity and improved trust in digital identities emerged as key.

Deloitte Switzerland looked at how Switzerland compares internationally and found much room for improvement. Key considerations for a successful digital identity and broader digital ecosystem in Switzerland are to: build trust, focusing on user control / self-sovereign identities (SSI), take data privacy seriously, develop and comply with standards, and enable interoperability with the broader digital ecosystem.

The initial rejection of the introduction of a national eID law by Swiss voters in 2021 presents an opportunity to learn from other best practices and success stories in Belgium, Italy and the Nordic countries in order to develop a viable future eID.
