The journey to digital transformation in the Government and Public Sector

Findings from an online survey about digitalisation - such as eGovernment, eVoting, electronic identification and remote working - in the Swiss administration, run on 1,500 people living in Switzerland and working in the Government and Public Sector.

What is the current state of digital transformation in the Government and Public Sector in Switzerland? How is this sector responding to the challenges and opportunities posed by digitalisation? What range of digital services and digital solutions are available to Swiss citizens and Public Sector employees? How far advanced is Switzerland with its ‘Digital First’ strategy? Are data protection and data security obstacles to digitalisation?

To answer these and other questions, our survey looked at key drivers of digital transformation, to understand the perceptions of and expectations from the citizens in Switzerland about the current state of digitalisation in the Government and Public Sector.

On this webpage, you will find insights and our perspective and recommendations based on the survey results. We will regularly update the website over the coming months as we publish new points of views.

The survey was conducted at the beginning of summer 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown. It is representative by age (16 to 64 years), gender and region. The respondents reside in Switzerland, with a focus on employees in the public sector.
