Deloitte China announces today that current Southern Region Managing Partner Dennis Chow will become chair of the firm, effective 1 June 2020, replacing Philip Tsai, who is retiring after more than 35 years at Deloitte.

Chow, who will serve a four-year term as Chairman, has been with Deloitte for over 33 years and became Southern Region Managing Partner in 2017. Under his leadership, Deloitte China's Southern Region has posted double-digit growth every year and significantly scaled up its operations in Shenzhen. During his tenure, Deloitte established the Greater Bay Area Center in Shenzhen, as well as other innovation centers, such as the AP Blockchain Lab, The Garage and Cyber Intelligence Center in Hong Kong. He has also promoted Deloitte China's inclusion initiatives, including the Executive Women Cross-Organization Mentorship Program in cooperation with Walmart and HSBC, and the Pass the Torch student mentorship initiative.

On taking up the role of Chair of Deloitte China, Chow's internal responsibilities will include supporting the Firm's leadership and management team, as well as working with fellow member firms of Deloitte Asia Pacific. Externally, he will represent the firm on the national, regional and international stage, as well as maintain relationships with regulators and clients.

"I'm honored to be appointed the next Chair of Deloitte China, and look forward to dedicating myself to realizing our firm's vision of creating an auditor of unrivaled quality and the most innovative advisory services firm in the marketplace, as well as promoting our status as a leading market opinion maker through our thought leadership," Chow says. "I also aim to make Deloitte an "employer of choice", and continue to promote our Global Shared Values – lead the way, serve with integrity, take care of each other, foster inclusion, and collaborate for measurable impact."

"Dennis has always demonstrated a profound understanding of our clients' needs and the business environments in which they operate," adds outgoing Chair Philip Tsai. "On a personal level, I know him as an outstanding professional, strong advocate for advanced technological and innovative solutions to meet our clients' needs, and an excellent communicator. He is passionate about driving business transformation through innovation, and I am confident Dennis can take Deloitte China to even greater success".

Chow's replacement as Southern Region Managing Partner will be Edward Au, who currently serves as co-leader of Deloitte China's National Public Offering Group. Au, who has been with the firm for almost 30 years, currently manages one of the Audit & Assurance Groups in the Southern China Region, achieving high growth and managing talent well.

"I am delighted to take up my new role as the Southern Region Managing Partner. I am thankful for Dennis' contribution to the Southern Region's growth. He has built a solid foundation for me to further expand our presence within this market. I am committed to continuing to drive the success of our transformation in the Southern Region," Au says.
