30 de diciembre de 2022 vence plazo para solicitar cita de renovación de DIMEX

Si su DIMEX venció después del 1° de octubre de 2021 y hasta el 30 de septiembre del 2022 deberá solicitar cita de renovación antes del 30 de diciembre, debido a que la resolución N°DJUR-0197-12-2021-JM que prorrogaba la vigencia automática de los documentos de identidad migratorios quedó sin efecto el pasado 30 de septiembre.

• Por ejemplo, si su DIMEX venció el 15 de enero de 2022 tendrá hasta el 30 de diciembre del presente año para solicitar cita de renovación.

Las siguientes categorías estarán dentro del grupo que deberá solicitar la renovación:

• DIMEX bajo la categoría de residentes temporales, permanentes, categorías especiales o estancias, vencidos a partir del 1° de octubre de 2021.
• Personas extranjeras sin documentarse, a las cuales se les aprobó y notificó su categoría migratoria antes del 1° de octubre de 2022.
• Personas apátridas.
• Personas extranjeras sin documentarse, a las cuales se les apruebe y notifique su categoría migratoria a partir del 1° de octubre de 2022.

Los procesos de renovación se podrán tramitar con los socios comerciales de la Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería (DGME) como: Correos de Costa Rica y el Banco de Costa Rica (BCR) o bien, directamente en las oficinas centrales o regionales de la DGME, mediante cita.

Es importante tener en cuenta que la vigencia del DIMEX se prorrogará hasta el día de su cita y que las autoridades están dando estas citas en un plazo de tres a cuatro meses.

Evite inconvenientes y tramite cuanto antes la renovación de su DIMEX.

December 30, 2022, is the deadline to apply for the DIMEX renewal appointment

If your DIMEX expired between October 1^st, 2021 and September 30^th, 2022, you must request a renewal appointment before December 30^th, due to the expiration of Resolution N°DJUR-0197-12-2021-JM, which extended the automatic validity of immigration identity documents.

• For example, if your DIMEX expired on January 15^th, 2022, you will have until December 30^th of this year to request a renewal appointment.

The following categories are part of the group that must apply for the renewal appointment:

• DIMEX issued for temporary or permanent residences, special categories or stays (short-term visas), that expired after October 1^st, 2021.
• Undocumented foreigners whose immigration status was approved and notified before October 1^st, 2022.
• Stateless people.
• Undocumented foreigners whose immigration status is approved and notified as of October 1^st, 2022.

Renewal processes can be done at any of the business associates of the General Bureau of Immigration (Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería – DGM&E) like the Costa Rican Post Office –Correos de Costa Rica– and Banco de Costa Rica (BCR), or directly at the central or regional offices of DGM&E by requesting an appointment.

It is important to keep in mind that the validity of the DIMEX will be extended until the day of the appointment. In addition, please note that the appointments are being scheduled for 3-4 months from now.

Avoid inconveniences by applying for the renewal of your DIMEX as soon as possible.
