Immigration News January 2025
Annual updates from SIRI
1 January each year, it is custom for the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) to introduce a number of immigration updates.
23 December 2024
We are thrilled to bring you the most recent immigration updates from the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI).
From 1 January 2025, the following updates have been made:
- New rules for spot checks
- New governmental fees for 2025
- The new minimum salary limit for certain work schemes
- New Positive List
- Income statistics updated.
New rules for spot checks
SIRI has announced that there are new rules for on-the-spot checks. The new rules allow SIRI to ask employees to present identification papers, when conducting a spot check and this should make it easier for SIRI to identify if the employees have the correct permits allowing them to work.
New governmental fees for 2025
The governmental fees have decreased for residence and work permit applications under the Pay Limit and Fast Track Schemes.
Main applicant fee: DKK 6,055 (2024: DKK 6,290)
Accompanying family member fee per application: DKK 2,380 (2024 DKK 2,880)
A complete overview of all the fee updates can be found here from 1 January 2025.
The new minimum salary limit for certain work schemes
The minimum salary limit for the Pay Limit and Fast Track Scheme will only be public after 1 January 2025. In 2024, the limit was DKK 487,000 per year. We normally see an increase of the yearly amount.
New Positive List
A new Positive List has been published for People with Higher Education and Skilled work. The new list is valid from 1 January 2025.
The positions included in the new Positive list can be seen here from 1 January 2025.
Income statistics updated
The Confederation of Danish Employers (DA) salary statistics have been updated and published and will be applicable for all applications submitted from 1 January 2025. The salary statistics are updated each quarter, and the next update will come into effect 1 April 2025.
The salary statistics are used to assess if an employee’s offered salary corresponds to Danish standards, which is a requisite for a work permit to be approved.
If you need help determining the employee’s salary, our team can assist.
The salary statistics can be found here.
Conclusion
The governmental fee per application has been reduced, which reflects the amount of time SIRI uses on the case handling. This also reflects that SIRI is handling the applications faster.
The salary offered to new employees in 2025 should be adjusted so that it meets the minimum salary criteria. As usual, salaries must also be according to Danish salary standards. If you as an employer is unsure if your candidates meet the criteria, we can assist.
