Mads Stensgaard Nielsen

Mads is engaged in Quality Risks Department of Deloitte Denmark, who combines a variety of expertise in auditing, corporate reporting (IFRS/financial reporting and ESG/sustainability reporting/EU environmental taxonomy reporting) and standard-setting.

Thanks to many years of interactions with several types of stakeholders, including a wide range of clients, Mads has built a strong technical knowledge of, and a deep experience of, (international) accounting standards, standard-setting activities, and more recently sustainability reporting, in conjunction with all the EU sustainability regulatory developments (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive - CSRD, EU Environmental Taxonomy Regulation...). All which are dealt with both in client-facing engagements and internally through facilitation of training to the Danish organization.

Past few years ago, Mads specialized and fully dedicated his time to sustainability matters to address the many urgent challenges at stake for our clients, service teams and the auditing profession. We are building EU sustainability and taxonomy reporting expertise's, as well as sustainability reporting assurance, working closely with colleagues who are specialists in sustainability matters.Mads is a firm believer of the need to better integrate financial and non-financial/sustainability reporting (such as on ESG and climate matters).

Of note, for many of his professional years of experience, consistently with his willingness to have a job that also contributes to the public interest, a part of his work is dedicated to participating to various standard-setting activities directly (ERST, FSR…).
