Rafael Hertz joins Deloitte Legal as a partner in Frankfurt, strengthening the Employment Law & Benefits service line

Deloitte Legal is strengthening its cross-location Employment Law & Benefits team in Frankfurt am Main: Rafael Hertz (42) will be appointed partner at Deloitte Legal with effect from 1 April 2023.

He has more than 12 years of experience in advising German and international companies in all areas of individual and collective employment law, including employee data protection. Most recently, he worked for Mannheimer Swartling and, since the end of 2016, for kallan, the law firm continuing the German offices of Mannheimer Swartling.

His work focuses on traditional employment law advice, including cross-border transformation and restructuring projects, as well as M&A transactions, including the related negotiation of the relevant parts of the sale and purchase agreements, representation in court and negotiation in the area of collective labour law. He has also been advising on data protection law for more than ten years.

At Deloitte Legal, Rafael Hertz will support the Employment Law & Benefits service line led by Klaus Heeke.

With this addition, the Employment Law & Benefits service line will grow to almost 30 highly specialized lawyers.

Klaus Heeke, Head of the Employment Law & Benefits Service Line, said: "We are delighted that Rafael Hertz will now be able to provide highly qualified employment law advice from our Frankfurt office. With his experience and expertise, he will be an ideal addition to the Frankfurt office".

Thomas Northoff, Managing Partner of Deloitte Legal, adds: "With Rafael Hertz, we are filling the increasingly important interface of employee data protection in Frankfurt - an important growth area in employment law in our view."

Commenting on his motivation for the move, Rafael Hertz said: "One of the things that attracts me to Deloitte Legal is its innovative strength, particularly against the backdrop of the challenges of the modern world of work that employment lawyers are already facing, as well as the legal industry, which has to adapt its service offering to the high demands and technological orientation of its clients.
I look forward to the interdisciplinary and cross-location collaboration and hope to be able to contribute to the further expansion of the practice in Frankfurt."
