Securing today’s automotive industry in Asia Pacific
The automotive sector is rapidly embracing the digital era, yet its cybersecurity measures are not always keeping pace. As vehicles and factories become more interconnected, they become more vulnerable to potential intrusions. A single breach could have severe consequences, jeopardising the safety of people, disrupting production, incurring substantial financial losses, and negatively impacting overall business.
In our latest research study with key automotive companies in the Asia Pacific region, we found that every automotive domain has high inherent cyber risk. Cyberattacks are on the rise, targeting a wide range of vehicles, enterprise systems, and factory facilities. Now, when automakers are in the process of digitisation, is the right time to implement and refine security protocols. Many automotive global headquarters (GHQs) are already realising the importance of cyber maturity and making it a top priority. It is time, now, for all GHQs to do so and to pave the way for non-GHQs to follow suit.
In this report, we recommend focussing on three automotive domains: IT, vehicle, and manufacturing. Each domain faces cybersecurity challenges. Robust security can help power the automotive industry in the digital age. The most effective approach for companies undergoing digitisation is to ensure comprehensive security across all three domains.
