Ryota Fukui leads Deloitte’s Financial Services Industry (FSI) practice in Asia Pacific covering 8 Geographies (Japan, Australia, China, Southeast Asia, India, Korea, Taiwan and New Zealand), 4 Sectors (Banking & Capital Markets, Insurance, Investment Management and Real Estate) and 5 businesses (Audit & Assurance, Risk Advisory, Consulting, Financial Advisory and Tax & Legal). In this role he is responsible for shaping and implementing the AP FSI strategy aligned with Deloitte Global and AP strategic priorities. Prior to this role Ryota held the following positions: Japan FSI Leader and Asia Pacific and Japan Banking & Capital Markets Leader.

In London, he was a partner of the Banking and Capital Markets Group at Deloitte London from 2013 to 2016 where he led the Japanese FSI practice in EMEA pursuing attestation works and advisory relationships with Japanese financial institutions. His leaderships included Derivative Business/Operating/Booking Model Transformation, Regulatory Advisories, Corporate Governance Advisories, IFRS Transition, Auditor Unification and Brexit Advisories.

Before he sit in London, he was an audit engagement partner of a Japanese mega bank for seven years at Deloitte Tokyo where he was promoted to a partner in 2006. From 1999 to 2001, he worked for the Banking and Securities Group at Deloitte New York and mainly audited leading investment banks.

He served as the Japanese representative to the Global Advisory Council for Deloitte Global from 2012 to 2013 where strategically important issues for Deloitte Global were discussed and recommendations were presented to the Deloitte Global CEO and Executives.

Professional Background:

Ryota has over 25 years experience in the financial services industry. He has depth and breadth of experience resulted from leading a complex global audit of a mega bank and several advanced advisory projects for leading financial institutions. He frequently communicate with bank executives for strategic matters and with board members for governance matters. His experience also includes global offerings, M&A transactions, securitisation transactions, regulatory compliances, and risk managements. He has continuously worked in the financial services sector throughout Tokyo, New York and London and gained global perspectives and insights in this industry.

He has been with Deloitte since his graduation from university in 1994. He started his career from Deloitte Tokyo. He passed the Japanese CPA examination in 1992 in his junior year of university. After graduation and required two-year work experience, he was registered as a Japanese CPA in 1996.
