The Edge Fellow Program provides transformational expertise with a unique selection of visionaries who collaborate across disciplines to create positive change across Europe.

The Edge Fellows

Deloitte Center for Edge developed the Edge Fellow Program to build a global network of external experts that are affiliated to Deloitte. With this collaboration we aim to bring differentiating perspectives to our clients in the most relevant topics on transformation and innovation.

We believe that with the subject matter expertise of Edge Fellows and execution power of Deloitte, we can accelerate positive change at our clients.

Together we put topics on the agenda of the CEO that are not there yet but ought to be.

Aimee van Wynsberghe - Ethical AI & Robotics

Aimee van Wynsberghe has been working in ICT and robotics since 2004. She began her career as part of a research team working with surgical robots in Canada at CSTAR (Canadian Surgical Technologies and Advance Robotics). She is Assistant Professor in Ethics and Technology at TU Delft in the Netherlands.

She is a 2018 L'Oreal Unesco 'For Women in Science' laureate. Aimee also serves as a member of the European Commission's High-Level Expert Group on AI and is a founding board member of the Netherlands AI Alliance. Aimee has been named one of the Netherlands top 400 influential women under 38 by VIVA and was named one of the 25 ‘women in robotics you need to know about’. She is author of the book Healthcare Robots: Ethics, Design, and Implementation and has been awarded an NWO personal research grant to study how we can responsibly design service robots. She has been interviewed by BBC, Quartz, Financial Times, and other International news media on the topic of ethics and robots, and is often invited to speak at International conferences and summits.

Aimee is co-founder and co-director of the Foundation for Responsible Robotics and on the board of the Institute for Accountability in a Digital Age. Together with Deloitte, the FRR is working to create a quality mark for robotics and AI products. As an Edge Fellow she aims to share her expertise on responsible innovation, ethics of technology, digital ethics, robot ethics and the ethics of AI.

Lucien Engelen - Digital Health

As an Edge Fellow for the Deloitte Center for the Edge Lucien leads Global Strategy on Digital Health and pushes the needle on a global scale for the needed change of the operational model and the H-UX as he coined it; the Healthcare User-Experience. He helps corporates understand and act on the current and future grand challenges within health(care) and aims to (re)shape the health(care) sector. Lucien has decades of experience within healthcare innovation: lastly 11 years as an advisor to the executive board at Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen, The Netherlands.

He was also the founding director of the wellknown REshape Center for Health(care) Innovation at Radboudumc. Lucien initiated the National Health Innovation School and build this in co-creation with the Dutch Ministry of Health into a (inter)national effort. Lucien is also faculty at Singularity University’s Exponential Medicine (Silicon Valley) since 2011.

His modus operandi is always challenging, creative, sometimes provocative but always techno-realistic. His goal is to prepare for a ‘soft landing into the future’, meanwhile creating a sustainable global health(care) for all. As a public speaker, he touches on how the intersection of technology and patient empowerment is creating momentum for the delocalization of healthcare, and the shift of data in the hands of patients.

Marieke Bax - Disruptive M&A

On 1 April 2019, Marieke Bax was appointed both Senior Advisor at Deloitte Disruptive M&A, and Fellow at Deloitte Center for the Edge.

At Deloitte, Marieke will collaborate with the team that is specialised in providing support services for investments, acquisitions and partnerships between corporates and scale-ups.

As an Edge Fellow at Deloitte’s innovative thinktank “Center for the Edge”, Marieke will perform research into issues at the interface of transformation, strategy, partnerships, acquisitions, and corporate governance.

In addition to her appointment at Deloitte, Marieke will continue her supervisory directorships at Vion Food Group, Vastned Retail, CLSA, and the Performing Arts Fund. Before this, her supervisory directorships included Euroclear and ASR. Marieke formerly held the position of Head of M&A at Sara Lee Corporation, CFO of Hot-Orange, and she was the initiator of the “Talent to the Top” programme, which encourages diversity in the Dutch business community.

Thomas Rau - Circularity

Thomas Rau is an entrepreneur, architect, innovator and visionary. His motto is ‘guided by the future’: his decisions and actions are not determined by what is deemed possible or culturally acceptable now, but by what is necessary for the future. For years Rau has contributed to national and international discussions about sustainability. He is promoting the use of renewable energy in the built environment and seeks to address the increasing worldwide resource scarcity. RAU Architects have been on the forefront of designing environmentally conscious buildings and healthy indoor climates since 1992. The Oneplanetarchitecture Institute (OPAi) was founded in 2008, focusing on social and economic questions of our time with regard to architecture. He established Turntoo, a company focusing on closing material loops and developing business models to put the circular economy into practice.

Audiences worldwide have enjoyed Thomas Rau’s lively presentations. He isn’t afraid to confront his listeners with challenges for tomorrow. He uses his enthusiasm, energy and humour to persuade us to take action, keeping everyone at the edge of their seats.

Thomas Rau has performed as keynote speaker for large conferences as well as for smaller audiences of boards of directors, policy makers and politicians. He is ranked among the Top 5 Dutch key players in sustainability, a ranking published by national daily Trouw.

Constantijn van Oranje - Ecosystems & digital innovation

Constantijn van Oranje leads TechLeap.NL (formerly StartupDelta), the accelerator for the Tech-ecosystem in the Netherlands. As Special Envoy he is on a continuous and tireless mission to make the Netherlands the best place in Europe for tomorrows leaders in technology. To achieve that, he and his team connect the Dutch Tech-ecosystem to help ambitious and promising Dutch Tech companies grow fast internationally by improving their access to capital, market and talent. Humor and knowledge are his most important tools in this respect, in addition to a relentless passion for technology and innovation and a deep commitment to make The Netherlands the frontrunner in European Tech.

Constantijn is also Director Digital Technology & Macro Strategy at Macro Advisory Partners in London and New York and Edge Fellow at Deloitte Centre for the Edge.

He also advises companies and the European Commission on their digital innovation strategies. Besides innovation and technology, Constantijn van Oranje is passionate about art, music, photography and nature.
