Kickstarting the sustainable hydrogen economy

Transforming energy

How can we help our societies transition to renewable energy sources?

To kickstart a sustainable hydrogen economy, North2 was formed, a consortium of Eneco, Equinor, Gasunie, Groningen Seaports, RWE and Shell Netherlands. In support of a final investment decision in 2024, Deloitte is carrying out a comprehensive feasibility study. Find out how our specialists are helping lay the foundations for a truly viable and green hydrogen economy.

A viable business model is key to a sustainable hydrogen economy

NortH2 is currently developing the largest green hydrogen project in Europe, aimed at large-scale production of green hydrogen by farming wind at sea. To support a final investment decision in 2024, Deloitte is carrying out a comprehensive feasibility study that will lay the foundations for a truly viable green hydrogen economy.

Hydrogen will be vital to decarbonising the global energy system and reaching international climate targets. It will play a key role in replacing fossil fuels in the steel, chemical and building materials industries. To make our civilisation climate-neutral by 2050, all sectors of society will have a role to play.

The success of NortH2 will greatly contribute to reducing the carbon-footprint of Dutch, German and Belgian societies. And to the global catalogue of best practices in clean energy production. These are the sunlit uplands we are bound for.

At Deloitte, we’re committed to helping our partners transition towards renewable energy sources and a greener future. Together with NortH2.
