Deloitte Legal appoints four partners to build new real estate legal business

09 January 2023

Deloitte Legal today announces the appointment of Vaqas Farooq, Wayne Nash, Lisa On-Iam and Dan Hargreaves as partners to the firm. Each specialising in real estate law, the four hires have joined the firm to establish a new real estate legal business within Deloitte Legal.

All four partners will be based in Deloitte’s Manchester office and will expand on Deloitte Legal’s regional footprint across the UK, adding specialist legal services to Deloitte’s existing offerings for the real estate sector.

Siobhan Godley, lead partner for real estate at Deloitte, said: “Expanding our real estate services to include legal capability is a very exciting next step. Deloitte’s extensive real estate service offerings such as real estate valuation, planning and development services, ESG consultancy, real estate finance and complex real estate mergers and acquisitions often require legal advice and problem solving. Combined with our real estate tax and financial advisory capability, the value of our cross-disciplinary delivery model is market leading. I look forward to working with our new partners to deliver value-added and integrated real estate advice to new and existing clients.”

Vaqas Farooq, head of Real Estate Legal, said: “The UK real estate legal market is robust and diverse and its challenges often complex. As living and working patterns significantly shift, so do pressures on the market and needs from real estate, making it an exciting time to be practising law in the sector. Deloitte has an unrivalled reputation for its tax and advisory work, and this is no different within the real estate sector. We look forward to combining complementary legal services for real estate and bringing this to our clients.”

Michael Castle, managing partner for Deloitte Legal, commented: “These four partner appointments are a testament to our continued commitment to invest in Deloitte Legal’s service offerings and expand our regional footprint. In the last 12 months, Deloitte Legal has been joined by partners with a variety of specialisms including cyber security, pensions, financial services regulation and contract lifecycle management. I am really pleased now to be adding real estate to our roster of legal expertise. All of these hires are in line with our strategic aim of using Deloitte’s multidisciplinary capabilities to provide business solutions in response to our clients’ legal challenges.”

Today’s news follows the appointment of five partners to Deloitte Legal in the last 12 months, including Cavan Fabris, Clare Jenkinson, Julia Gorham, Claire Bell, and Peggy Pauwels.
