The DCSA is a neutral and not-for-profit organization with the ambition of shaping the digital future of container shipping by creating standardization, by setting the frameworks for effective solutions, and by exploring possibilities of innovation. Deloitte approached industry leaders who, together, account for more than half of the world’s container market. In the spring of 2018 the Digital Container Shipping Association (DCSA) was established by five of the world’s largest operators – Maersk, Hapag-Lloyd, Mediterranean Shipping Company, CMA CGM and Ocean Network Express.
Deloitte has assisted in the legal and operational aspects of the association as well as initiating work on standards for APIs, a common service blueprint, IoT container standards, cyber security collaboration, port call optimization, e-Bill of Lading and more.
The Deloitte NextGen Team has assisted in conducting a blockchain interoperability study. In the shipping sector multiple blockchain-based solutions are emerging, hence a technical assessment of the future interoperability of the blockchain systems are needed.
The collaboration between Deloitte and the worlds largest shipping companies has resulted in the formation of an association who will shape the digital future of container shipping by creating standardization, by setting the frameworks for effective solutions, and by exploring possibilities of innovation.
