Deloitte Legal advises the Thimm Group on the sale of THIMM Packaging Systems GmbH + Co. KG

The Thimm Group, headquartered in Northeim in Lower Saxony, Germany, is systematically focusing the family business on the consumer goods industry in the coming years and has sold the industrial goods division Thimm Packaging Systems to the globally active Japanese Rengo Group as part of its long-term strategy development. The former industrial goods division of the Thimm Group had been part of the family business since 1993 and generated sales of 187 million euros last year with 1,075 employees. A cross-location team from Deloitte Legal, led by Partner Dr. Harald Stang and Counsel Dr. Maximilian Habel (both Corporate/M&A, Hanover), advised the Thimm Group comprehensively on the structuring, negotiation and completion of the transaction and related corporate measures.

The Thimm Group is a leading provider of packaging and distribution solutions. The solution portfolio includes transport and sales packaging made of corrugated board, high-quality sales displays, packaging systems made of composite materials, and printed products for industrial processing. Founded in 1949, the family-owned company currently employs more than 3,600 people at 21 sites in Germany, France, Poland, Romania and the Czech Republic and generated annual sales of around 698 million euros in 2021.

With over 100 locations in North America, Europe and Asia, Rengo is Japan's largest packaging supplier. In Germany, Tricor Packaging & Logistics AG, headquartered in Bad Wörrishofen, is part of the Rengo network. Tricor is a long-standing cooperation partner of Thimm.
