Deloitte Legal advises Main Capital and HPYE Innovation on acquisitions of majority stakes in Viima (innovation management) and INNOSPOT (start up scouting)
A Deloitte Legal team around Felix Felleisen (Partner) and Max Lüerßen (Counsel, both Corporate/M&A, Düsseldorf) has advised strategic software investor Main Capital and their portfolio company HYPE Innovation on their recent add-on investments in Finnish all-in-one innovation platform Viima and German startup scouting software and service provider INNOSPOT.
Viima is a leading provider in its sector and offers the most widely used innovation software. Viima’s global customer base of more than 10,000 clients entails companies from a wide range of industries – from Munich Re (Insurance) and L’Oréal (Cosmetics) over to Kanthal (Industrial Heating Technology) and CMA CGM (Shipping and Logistics).
INNOSPOT is a highly advanced provider of startup scouting software and services. It offers its broad range of customers access to real-time analysis of over 22 million data points linked to half a million startups in INNOSPOT’s sophisticated startup database. This database enables INNOSPOT’s customers to identify relevant startups based on profound data rather than hearsay and intuition and so helps to conduct efficient evaluations like PoC and market assessments or find the most relevant startups for accelerator programs and innovation labs.
With these recent add-on acquisitions, the HYPE Innovation platform significantly strengthens its footprint in the innovation management environment and further builds on its already premier role in this market. Main Capital will continue to actively support HYPE, HYPE’s portfolio companies HLP, Viima and INNOSPOT and the management team in further developing its existing market position and continuing its strong growth path, in particular by exploiting synergies from the recent acquisitions. Besides organic growth initiatives, which will be spurred on even further through the integration of Viima and INNOSPOT, selective add-on acquisitions will continue to be an important growth pillar in the partnership, enhancing the value proposition for Hype’s, HLP’s, Viima’s and INNOSPOT’s customers further.
Felix Felleisen and Max Lüerßen have been advising Main Capital on a variety of platform and add-on investments in fast-growing German software and SaaS companies ever since Main Capital expanded into the German market, including the acquisition of HYPE Innovation and its add-on HLP Informationsmanagement.
“Max and Felix offer an outstandingly well-coordinated, seamless cooperation with the workflows of our team - even when dealing with strict timelines and handling several (cross-border) transactions at the same time. In doing so, they always know how to combine excellent legal quality with deep economic understanding.” says Sven van Berge Henegouwen (Partner & Head of Main Capital Partners DACH). “Their legal expertise, business acumen and ability to communicate adequately with all stakeholders - during due diligence and at the negotiation table - make Max and Felix a great addition to our own team”.
