Report on Recycling Activities for Clothes, Toys, and Miscellaneous Items at Home

Overview of the Program and Intention

The program was about collecting second-hand clothes, hobby equipment, dishes and kitchen tools, home electrical appliances, and general items from Group members and sending them to partners through a company, Ecommit, for redistribution, reuse, and recycling. This is designed to enable members of Deloitte Tohmatsu Group LLC to engage in social contribution whenever they have a chance to come to the office, as many of them are working at home. With this program, main offices in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, and Fukuoka offered collection boxes. Thanks to the support from the Administration team and members with diverse abilities, many items collected were shipped to Ecommit.

*Deloitte Tomatsu Group focuses on "Ability" and uses the term "Diverse Abilities" instead of "Disability."

Results and Going Forward

Due to the range of items welcomed for donation, whether it be clothes, hobby equipment, dishes and kitchen tools, home electrical appliances, tools, and general items, everybody found it easy to come up with something to offer from their home. The collection box of Ecommit remains in the Shin Tokyo Building office even after Impact Month, encouraging members, now familiar with the drive, to keep donating and remembering the cause.

Participants’ Comments
  • I donated toys - my child grew up even before using those toys. As I was going to bring them to a recycling shop, this drive was really helpful. Good cause.
  • I donated clothes and dishes. This is the second time we have supported this drive and I saw the box this time is larger and more items are being donated. I can see many more people are taking part!
  • Some fast fashion outlets accept clothes for recycling, but clothes only. The beauty of this drive is that non–clothes items are also welcomed.
