Overseas staff secondment opportunities

People first. That is true at Deloitte. It means opportunities, challenging and rewarding assignments, international experience, learning and development, and the flexibility to find your own career path.

Vandy LY, ERS Senior, joined the Deloitte Singapore office on secondment from our Cambodia practice on 13th February. Read on to find out more as we caught up with him for a short interview on his experience in Singapore.

Share with us more about your role during your secondment.

I joined the Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT) Team to help with IT Security Assessment across various websites and host servers, and really enjoyed this role.

How would you describe your experience in Deloitte Singapore?

My fellow team members from the VAPT team gave me a warm welcome at the start and were very approachable during my time in Singapore. I learnt a lot from them and it certainly helped to enhance my technical skills. I also contributed by sharing my knowledge gained from working in the Cambodia practice with them.

What are some of your interests and hobbies?

In my free time, I like researching on IT security tips and staying abreast of the latest cybercrime trends!

How did you spend your leisure time in Singapore?

It was truly enjoyable in terms of both working and relaxing – the people there were very friendly and helpful. Outside of work, I visited several places including Chinatown, Little India, and Marina Bay just to name a few. My favourite place is the Universal Studios!

Any key differences or similarities between Singapore and Cambodia?

The IT technologies between Cambodia and Singapore are quite different. Singapore has an integrated IT system across all infrastructures and focuses a lot on IT security while Cambodia is just starting to implement such technology.

Is there anything you would like to say to your Cambodia colleagues?

I hope some of my colleagues in Cambodia will have a chance to experience what it is like working in Singapore one day. I would also like to thank all of them, in particular, Kimleng Khoy (Audit Director), Nickson Choo (ERS Director) and Virek Chey (ERS Assistant Manager) for their constant encouragement and motivation.
