International women’s day 2019

Decisions magazine - Issue 13

Every year on 8 March, our people come together to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) – a day to move beyond awareness of the gender gap to concrete actions for gender equality. This year’s theme was #BalanceforBetter and it was a fun day for everyone as they participated in our exciting line-up of activities!

Dialogue with Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong

Our people had the honour of having ESM Goh Chok Tong in the office for an insightful dialogue, moderated by media personality Wong Li-Lin. The session began with a welcome address by Cindy Hook, our Asia Pacific (AP) CEO who spoke about the importance of diversity and inclusion to our business’ success.

The session was inspiring and humorously candid as ESM Goh shared his thoughts on what makes good leadership – qualities of character, motivation and foresight. ESM Goh also introduced his book “Tall Order”, a reflection on his succession and politics past and present.

Aster Spring skincare workshop

Our female colleagues pampered themselves with a complimentary skincare workshop by Aster Spring, a leading provider of professional skincare solutions, and learnt how to achieve radiant and younger looking skin.

Hearing from female leaders

50 of our female senior managers and directors participated in an immersive dialogue session which was led by Cindy Hook (Asia Pacific CEO) Elizabeth Faber (AP Talent Leader), Seah Gek Choo (Singapore Talent Partner) and Edna Yap (Risk Advisory Partner).

Facilitated by Emmy Aras (Southeast Asia Greenhouse Assistant Manager), this session provided the opportunity for Deloitte female leaders to share their opinions and insights on gender challenges and to brainstorm on impactful, actionable solutions.

Women in Consulting gathering

Women in Consulting (WIC) is a movement in Deloitte which serves as a platform to develop women leaders and trusted advisors for our firm and our clients. During IWD, the WIC team hosted an afternoon of fun activities and some serious pampering for our Consulting female colleagues.

IWD livestream panel

Driving the conversation around diversity and inclusion, our AP CEO Cindy and AP Talent Leader Elizabeth shared their views of an IWD panel discussion, streamed live from Tokyo, Japan on 12 March. Alongside other Deloitte leaders, Cindy and Elizabeth provided insights on what inclusive leadership looks like as well as our goals to create a more diverse and inclusive culture.

60 minutes with Winnie Chan

Being a strong believer in collective impact, CEO and Founder of Bynd Artisan, Winnie Chan, shared with our people her thoughts on leadership through her success story. During the talk, participants got a better understanding of what Bynd Artisan is, and how it provides a collaborative platform with artistic talents, young and old.
