Executive message
A message from Anthony Viel,
CEO of Deloitte Canada and Chile
"At Deloitte, we have a responsibility to build a better future for our people, clients, communities, and country. I am confident that together, united by a shared vision for a brighter future for all, we will achieve big things."
The rising cost of living is placing immense pressure on Canadians struggling to make ends meet. Climate change is threatening our ecosystems and the vital resources we rely on to live. Our health care system is buckling under a massive demographic shift and post-pandemic stress. Our country continues to dangerously lag other developed countries in terms of productivity.
These challenges demand action - collective efforts and commitments to investment and innovative solutions. At Deloitte, we see it as our responsibility to address them head-on by leading meaningful and impactful work that creates lasting and positive change. By leveraging our network, our expertise, the ecosystems in which we live, and the future-focused mindset of our people, we can help build a sustainably stronger, more equitable, and inclusive society by helping Canada become more productive.
Serving others is the foundation of who we are and why we exist. Our 166-year history in what would become Canada—and the Deloitte network’s overall 179-year history—is shaped by our mission to inspire and empower all to thrive, especially during times of change, ambiguity, and adversity. I’m proud of our We’re Working on Big Things campaign, in which we share stories of how our work with clients is creating meaningful change where our country needs it most.
This report highlights a few of those stories, as well as some of our incredible teams that make our communities stronger.
Take, for example, our collaboration with EverWind Fuels to develop a clean hydrogen plant in Nova Scotia. Our teams led an economic impact study that demonstrated the potential community benefits of this project, including new jobs, improved labour conditions, and local workforce development. This work is helping build a sustainable future for Atlantic Canada, strengthening the local community and furthering Canada’s net-zero emissions goals.
Another highlight is the Deloitte Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), our firm’s road map to advancing reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples through four key pillars: inclusion, education, employment, and economic empowerment. We are delivering on these commitments, which have allowed us to foster respectful and meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities, invest in education and training, and work toward becoming a trusted team member and employer of Indigenous businesses and professionals.
In our work with The Ottawa Hospital, we leveraged generative AI (GenAI) to develop a virtual agent designed to reduce the administrative burden faced by health care workers. This solution not only allows them to prioritize patient care, but it also supports their own well-being and helps drive innovation in our health care system.
Guided by our legacy of service, our Purpose, and the collective aspirations of our people, we are focused on tackling the greatest challenges of our time to make life better for all Canadians. By working together, we can amplify our impact to build a world where everyone can thrive.

Measuring our progress
Each year we measure the firm’s impact and its progress on sustainability during our fiscal year, considering four pillars:
Our Purpose
Our Purpose is to make an impact that matters.
“Our Purpose guides every action and every decision we make. We have a responsibility—and we’re uniquely positioned—to make a broader societal impact through the work we do and the people we serve. For our clients, it’s by delivering innovative solutions to their most complex challenges while building trust and confidence in the marketplace. For our people, it’s by creating an inclusive and equitable environment where their well-being and careers can flourish. In society, it’s through our WorldImpact initiatives, building a more sustainable and prosperous world where everyone can thrive.
These commitments, rooted in our Purpose, empower us to make an impact that matters—where it matters most.”
