Acknowledging our past, owning our present, and changing our future

Efforts to support Black lives and eradicate anti-Black racism in communities across Canada continue. Deloitte is part of this movement advocating change.

Since signing the BlackNorth Initiative Pledge, which aims to address systemic racism, Deloitte Canada has formed a Black Action Council (BAC). Its mission: to grow an inclusive, safe, and equitable workplace for Black people.

The BAC is co-chaired by our CEO, Anthony Viel, it comprises senior executive leaders as well as leaders and members of the Canadian Black Professional Network. The BAC is guided by its four strategic pillars:

Education and awareness
Raise awareness of the importance of understanding anti-Black racism, and provide and ensure learning opportunities to educate our people, clients, and communities.
Equitable and inclusive environment
Create a safe and welcoming workplace for Black people and commit to building an equitable and inclusive culture in everything we do.
Employment and talent life cycle
Ensure we hire, engage, and empower current and future employees from the Black community.
Marketplace and economic empowerment
Create a positive impact in the marketplace by helping and inspiring our clients and communities, while supporting Black-owned businesses and initiatives.
