Jason Garay

Jason Garay is a director in the National Health Insights Executive. He specializes in life sciences and health care in Deloitte’s artificial intelligence practice, Omnia AI. Prior to joining the firm, Jason was the vice-president of analytics and informatics for Cancer Care Ontario, where he led the development and implementation of CCO’s first enterprise data and analytics strategy and its first research strategy, and established a comprehensive data governance structure for Ontario’s largest heath-data holdings. Jason and his team, who worked with large data sets to, ultimately drive improvements received the National Information Technology Association’s Ingenious Award in 2017 and the Ontario Public Service’s Amethyst Award for Digital Disruption in 2018 in recognition of their work in data and analytics.

An epidemiologist by training, Jason is also an adjunct professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto, and has held leadership positions of several health care committees, including the Association of Public Health Epidemiologists in Ontario, the Ontario Palliative Care Network, the Pan-Canadian Public Health Epidemiologists’ Network, and the Communicable Diseases Surveillance Network. He also serves on the board of directors of the CNIB Foundation and HIMSS (Health Information and Management Systems Society).
