The Swiss Federal Council has approved a temporary quota scheme which will be allow UK nationals to apply for work authorization in Switzerland after Brexit.

 

Netherlands – UK citizens’ rights in case of no-deal Brexit
The Dutch government has announced how it will administer the status of UK nationals in the Netherlands in the event of a no-deal Brexit.

 

Poland – Government publishes no-deal Brexit plan
The Polish government has published a draft bill outlining the rights of United Kingdom nationals already living in Poland before March 29, 2019 to be applied if the U.K. withdraws from the European Union without an agreement. If Brexit is delayed, the draft bill would only come into effect as of the U.K.’s date of exit from the EU and only in a no-deal Brexit scenario. The bill is still in the draft stage and needs to be approved by the government at the voting stage.

 

Belgium – No-deal Brexit contingency plan announced
The Belgian government has released draft legislation on how it would administer the status of U.K. citizens in Belgium in the event of a “no deal” Brexit.

 

Sweden – No-deal Brexit contingency plan announced
The Swedish government has announced plans for how it would administer the status of U.K. nationals in Sweden in the event of a “no deal” Brexit.

Brexit – EU Settlement Scheme Fees to be Scrapped
The UK government has announced plans to scrap all fees for EU nationals and their family members applying to register their residence in the UK under the EU Settlement Scheme. Registration under the scheme will now be free.

 

Brexit – EU Settlement Scheme open to public from 21 January 2019 during expanded test phase
The UK’s EU Settlement Scheme was put into the UK immigration rules in August 2018, and has since been undergoing trials, initially with select universities and NHS trusts in the North West, and then more widely in the NHS, with a full launch not expected by 30 March 2019. To date, 15,500 applications have been made, with 12,400 registrations completed, suggesting that the scheme is effective in delivering its aims (although a full report in January will provide more details).
