Deloitte’s CEO in Finland will change next summer

Lari Hintsanen, who has served the firm for a long time, has been elected as the new CEO of the Deloitte Finland member firm. Lari will start in his new position on 1 June 2022. The current CEO, Tomi Pitkänen, will continue in the firm working in a client-responsible role for our key clients. The transition begins with a period of about six months, during which time the firm’s current CEO will introduce his successor to the position.

The change of CEO is an important part of active succession planning and the rotation principle, which are part of the culture of a firm run by the partnership principle.

‘Our history stretches back to 1845. Our partners only have the partnership as a loan from the firm. Our goal is to constantly innovate according to the needs of our clients and leave the firm in a better condition for our followers. The same thinking applies to the roles we play in our careers. We are very pleased with Tomi’s term. These eight years have been a time of steady growth, almost doubling our revenue and headcount to 100 million euros and 700 practitioners. Lari has a perfect situation for starting his term in this position,’ sums up the chair of the Deloitte Finland Partnership Council, Ilkka Huikko.

The selection process emphasised several factors, including the vision of Deloitte Finland’s strategic direction and capability to implement the strategy, leadership skills and approach, and existing external and Deloitte’s internal international networks.

‘We have a great firm, based on our professionals’ strong expertise. It will be a privilege to act as CEO. Our clients expect us to give a seamless client experience, as well as in-depth expertise to the large entities’ deliveries. We respond to these expectations by investing in the expertise of our selected industries and the services that are relevant to them by continuing to deepen our collaboration with our global network. We are at our best in large transformations and multidisciplinary projects. These are also enjoyed by our talent, so we will continue to play to our strengths’, says future CEO Lari Hintsanen.

Currently Lari Hintsanen is the managing partner of the Tax & Legal business unit at Deloitte Finland. Before joining Deloitte Finland, Lari worked in both consultancy and the telecom industry. He moved to Deloitte from the Head of Tax position at Nokia. Before that, he worked as a tax consultant in different BIG4 companies.

‘I am convinced that under Lari's leadership we will write many new success stories for our clients, people and society’, says current CEO Tomi Pitkänen.
