TOKYO, JAPAN, 11 November 2022

Deloitte Tohmatsu Group (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Group CEO: Kenichi Kimura) has received Gold Award for 5 consecutive years based on PRIDE Index – which has been set by voluntary organization called “work with Pride”, to acknowledge LGBT+ initiatives at workplaces. PRIDE Index is the very first guideline in Japan established in 2016, to measure LGBT+ inclusion initiatives in the workplace. It has been set as the guideline for the companies to acknowledge LGBT+ friendly environment and to empower internal initiatives etc.

Deloitte Tohmatsu Group's efforts for LGBT+ inclusion are driven in three categories:

  • Systems and infrastructure: Eliminating inequalities in benefits, by defining same-sex partners as spouses, developing systems such as additional paid leave due to gender-affirming treatments including hormone treatments, and improving facilities such as installing all gender bathrooms, etc.
  • Culture: Mandatory LGBT+ training for all members, LGBT+ Ally network activities with 170 volunteer members, storytelling, strengthening community through various events, etc.
  • Social impact: Collaborating with NPOs and educational institutions to raise LGBT+ awareness and lead to donations, and promote initiatives that lead not only to inclusion within Deloitte Tohmatsu Group, but also in the wider society, such as workshops for students and external communications and eminence etc.

Deloitte Tohmatsu Group empowers proactive allyship. We have been working on various initiatives and activities.

Our "LGBT+ Inclusion @ Work: A Global Outlook" -a survey with 600 LGBT+ members from various industry sectors in 12 countries and regions around the world, has shared holistic insights and raise awareness for allyship.

At Tokyo Rainbow Pride 2022, in addition to sharing our expertise on LGBT+ inclusion, we invited visitors to become Allies with their commitment message. We received nearly 900 Ally commitment messages, and based on the number of the messages, we have made a donation to a non-profit organization that provides LGBT+ education services, leading to LGBT+ educational content delivered for approximately 3,000 people.

As a part of the "Giving December" fundraising campaign within our group, more than 500 members took the opportunity to donate to various organizations including those working on LGBT+ inclusion, which were nominated by our Partners.

By taking this opportunity, Deloitte Tohmatsu Group will further continue our initiatives with various stakeholders to empower LGBT+ inclusion across society.
