2020 Annual Report

Our purpose in action

Our purpose is to make an impact that matters – for our clients, our people and society.

Creating brighter futures through skills, education and inclusion

As a people-led business, we’re dependent on the skills and experience of our 20,000 people.

With this in mind, it is natural for us to focus on education, developing the skills of others and creating opportunities to help tackle all forms of inequality – whether related to gender, ethnicity, disability (which includes neurodiversity) socio-economic factors and the LGBTQ+ community.

Our people

It is vital that our people reflect every part of society and that we create a culture in which everyone can be themselves.

Our stories share examples of how we are working to build a more inclusive firm and tackle inequality head on. Our Black Action Plan and work to support gender parity are among the actions we’re taking to help make sure everyone in our firm has the same opportunity to succeed.

Our clients

Our purpose is also at the heart of our work with clients, as we use our skills and expertise to make an impact that matters in our day to day work.

For example, we’ve worked with the Department for Education help to develop leadership skills among Regional Adoption Agency leaders, which are helping them in their important work with vulnerable children. And, working alongside the Ministry of Defence we’ve designed and launched pilot programmes that are testing a new accommodation model designed to give service personnel more flexibility in where and how they live, in a way that’s affordable in the long term.

Society

This year we reached the goal we set ourselves in 2016 to make a difference to One Million Futures in the UK – helping one million people get to where they want to be through access to education and employment.

Working with over 70 society partners across the UK, we are helping to create brighter futures by amplifying their impact – and we’re also supporting people directly through activities like mentoring and apprenticeships.

And we continue to continue to support our clients and society partners in their response to the COVID-19 pandemic, such as through our work with FutureDotNow to help bridge the digital divide.
