Deloitte Tohmatsu to Establish Deloitte University in Japan

Tokyo, JAPAN, 11 September 2023

Deloitte Tohmatsu Group, one of the largest professional firms in Japan with more than 20,000 members, announced plans to establish Deloitte University in Japan, an in-company experiential platform designed to enhance the capabilities of our people, regarded as the most important management asset. The University’s inauguration will take place in 2027 in newly built facilities near Tokyo.

Deloitte University is our flagship asset deployed across our global network in which Deloitte Tohmatsu takes part. First established in Dallas, Texas, in 2011, the University is currently operating in France, India, Canada, Singapore and Mexico. Away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, the University focuses on offering experiences in developing leadership skills, creating ideas through various workshop style trainings with fellow colleagues  who have different expertise and experiences. A wide range of development programs are designed for our professionals to enhance skills in leadership, negotiation, facilitation, and relationship building, as well as getting capabilities  to equip them for promotion and/or assuming the role of Lead Client Service Partner (LCSP*) in understanding and demonstrating new responsibilities. These programs are developed in collaboration with Deloitte firms in the U.S. and other locations around the world. Reflecting feedback and requests from internal and external participants, including Deloitte professionals from around the world as well as leaders of client companies, the programs will be regularly updated.

The new Deloitte University in Japan will be one of Deloitte University's major campuses in Asia Pacific – as part of a multi-campus network. Open to any individuals working for Deloitte Tohmatsu and other regional firms, the University strives to offer signature experiences available only with Deloitte Tohmatsu, from learning the world's most advanced professional skills and knowledge to meeting and exchanging ideas with fellow participants. Other types of programs include focus on improving well-being, overcoming individuals’ psychological and physical barriers to be open minded in bringing about innovative ideas and active exchange of opinions as well as various events to facilitate collaboration with clients and communities to help expand internal and external personal networks. By offering opportunities to learn global level leadership skills, Deloitte Tohmatsu intends to raise and produce quality talents capable of taking leadership on the global stage.

With five Businesses, including Audit & Assurance, Risk Advisory, Consulting, Financial Advisory, and Tax and Legal, Deloitte Tohmatsu does not only offer specialized services in these fields, but also delivers unprecedented value to clients and society as all Businesses collaborate across the Group. To boost cross-disciplinary efforts to the next level, the firm adopted the concept of People First in the previous fiscal year (FY23: June 2022 to May 2023). This talent development framework is designed to motivate professionals to enhance their capabilities and demonstrate their talents as a result of their own spontaneous desire to do so, rather than as a mandate by their managers.
