After graduating from university, joined Tohmatsu & Co. (now Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu LLC) and provided auditing and internal control-related consulting services for primarily publically listed Japanese companies, then worked at Deloitte’s New York office from 2005 to 2007. In 2008, transferred to Deloitte Tohmatsu Tax Co.’s international tax department, and focused on international tax consulting for multinational Japanese corporations.

Coordinates with Deloitte offices overseas to provide comprehensive services regarding tax practices for outbound cross-border M&A projects, tax structuring, post-merger integration, group-wide restructuring, etc. for primarily Japanese corporations. Masumi also has a wealth of experience supporting corporations in handling tax ruling advice/support within and outside Japan for cross-border and other complex transactions. Furthermore, Masumi offers services that are customizable to a corporation’s business needs based on the project’s goals, etc. by coordinating with Deloitte’s other lines of business outside of tax.

From July 2019 to June 2022, Masumi was seconded to Deloitte Tax Solutions Pte. Ltd. (Deloitte Singapore), where he was engaged in tax services (mainly coordination services) for Southeast Asia and India, centered on a regional headquarters for multinational Japanese companies in Singapore. From January 2021 to June 2022, he served as the Tax & Legal Business Leader for Japanese Services Group (JSG) in Southeast Asia.

Masumi returned to Deloitte Tohmatsu Tax Co. in July 2022 to provide international tax consulting mainly for multinational Japanese corporations.
