Teams compete over the amount and quality of litter they collect within a set time limit - this is SpoGomi, an emerging sport that originated in Japan. The new sport has seen more than 1200 events throughout Japan to date and continues to gain enough popularity to have a world championship.
The event was organized by the Well-being team of Deloitte Tohmatsu Risk Advisory. Recognizing that working at home makes team building and communications more challenging, the team knew the sporting event would help members interact and develop their mutual bonding.
The target number of participants was originally set at 300 - this seemingly daunting goal was more than satisfied with a total of 564 people signing up, including 322 people in 63 teams on November 26 and 242 people in 48 teams on November 27.
