Deloitte Tohmatsu Group Affirms the Statement of the 30% Club Japan on Importance of Diversity and Inclusion

TOKYO, JAPAN, 16 Feb 2021 - Deloitte Tohmatsu Group announces that the Group endorses the statement, “Reiterating the Importance of Diversity & Inclusion,” issued by the 30% Club Japan on February 15, 2021. The Group firmly believes the ever-increasing importance of promoting diversity and inclusion as “traditional thinking will not lead to the answers needed to overcome the current crisis” brought about by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, as indicated in the statement.

Founded in the UK in 2010, the 30% Club is a global campaign to increase women representation at board and senior management levels. As an advocate of the philosophy of the 30% Club, Deloitte Tohmatsu Group has been supporting the 30% Club Japan from its inception to its subsequent expansion of activities. The Group believes that the initiative should ultimately help Japanese companies enhance their governance and achieve sustainable growth, which in turn should bolster their global competitiveness and have them contribute to building a sustainable society. Deloitte Tohmatsu Group views diversity and inclusion as one of the pillars of its management strategy and is focused on promoting this important initiative in all aspects of its businesses.
