Responding to the IPCC’s “clarion call” for accelerated action on climate change
Top tips for transforming your business to thrive in a net zero economy.

Do you understand the financial impact of your net zero target?
Quantify the financial impacts of your decarbonisation target, ensure your decarbonisation strategy ties in with your current and future capital allocation plans, and prioritise your abatement opportunities.

Deloitte’s Decarbonisation Solution
A focused decarbonisation strategy is the key to becoming a successful, climate-smart business. In particular, that strategy should mitigate the physical and transitional risks associated with climate change, while prioritising innovation and sustainable investment. Every day, the severe impacts of climate change are becoming clearer, with increasing calls for decisive action. Although climate change poses fundamental challenges for businesses, policymakers and investors globally, decarbonisation can offer many opportunities for companies ready to recognise and act on them.

Decarbonising the chemicals sector
If the chemical industry lowers its emissions, it could create a new competitive landscape in which the winners are leaders in sustainable business processes, and producers of a whole new portfolio of products to meet changing consumer needs.

Why decarbonisation needs to move from talk to action
The science on climate change is clear: to avoid the most catastrophic effects of global warming, we must limit the increase in global average temperatures to well below 2°C compared with pre-industrial levels. The sobering reality is that we have most likely missed the boat already, and are heading towards a scalding future that it could be hard or impossible to adapt to; 50-degree summers in Portugal could very well become the norm.

The Economic Case Against Carbon
Decarbonizing the global economy will open up opportunities and drive growth. If the world acts quickly enough to achieve net zero emissions by the middle of this century, the resulting transformation could fuel stronger economic growth by 2070.

Five things you need to know about science based targets
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) translates the Paris requirements into tangible emission-reduction goals for businesses. With over 2,700 organisations signed up to date, should your business be setting an SBT too?

The Future of Energy and climate change
The 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) took place beginning of November. This COP26 summit brought parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and thus limit global warming to well below 2°C. While progress is being made, recent estimates suggest we are not on track to meet the Paris targets, and more must be done. At this COP26 hub, see how Deloitte connects bright minds to make an impact for the future.

Accelerate decarbonization and achieve meaningful energy targets by 2030
Companies and governments alike are evaluating how they can reduce their impact on the environment. Critically important to many of these initiatives is the reduction of carbon output—and decarbonization is very important in the energy transition. This report explores how companies in the Energy & Resources industry can accelerate decarbonization over the next decade and achieve meaningful energy targets by 2030.

Duurzaamheid in de bouw: integrale aanpak levenscyclus is nodig

Decarbonising aviation: Clear for take-off
Decarbonisation has become a global imperative and a priority for governments, companies, and society at large. This report is the third in a series by Deloitte and Shell, exploring the decarbonisation of harder-to-abate sectors. This research outlines the current state of the aviation sector, identifies the barriers to decarbonisation readiness, and proposes solutions and a flight plan to accelerate decarbonisation in the sector.

Heat is hot - Renewable Energy is the Future
This is a result of Deloitte calculations based on the target formulated in the climate accord. When making houses more sustainable, the transition from traditional gas to district heating cannot be realized without government incentives according to the calculations. The incentives required in the next 10 years are estimated at €3.0bn - €4,5bn.

Creating a viable hydrogen economy
Hydrogen is projected to play a key role in the future of energy and its development will happen faster than many might expect. Increasingly, business leaders understand they need to get a grip on hydrogen to understand where the opportunities will be. However, with so much hype around hydrogen it is difficult to keep an eye on the key trends and developments. Where will the transition to hydrogen unfold first, which supply technologies and distribution alternatives have most potential and which geopolitical regions are best positioned? This point of view addresses those questions and offers recommendations to policy makers and companies on how to position themselves optimally for the accelerated transition to come.

Decarbonising Shipping: All Hands on Deck

Healthy, sustainable, and responsibly sourced food: our bright future for 2050
What does our world look like in 2050? How can we create a food system without compromise that’s sustainable, healthy and even-handed? Which innovations bring about this system for food consumption, production and waste? This article explains Deloitte’s vision for the future of food. Our visions are invitations to clients, partners, and everyone who's future-minded to join us in envisaging – and accordingly shaping – a pleasant planet.
Decarbonizing the food system: Time is running out!
The recent COP 26 conference put decarbonization in the food system firmly back at the top of the agenda. Governments and the general public are demanding change. Carbon dioxide and other emissions, such as methane and nitrogen, must be reduced to achieve the sustainability targets that governments have agreed to. The food system forms a large part of this and must be transformed to ensure a sustainable future. If we want to realize net zero (or even carbon negative) emissions, that means we need to rethink how we produce, process and consume food.
COVID-19 has accelerated the global food system transformation
The COVID-19 pandemic fast-tracked the global food system transformation. Companies that recognise and respond well to the challenges while preparing for the time after the crisis are best prepared to thrive beyond the crisis.
Ready, set, go – Transform the food system
The food system needs an urgent transformation to safeguard our planet’s resources and boost human health—that is what we have argued throughout the ‘New Dawn’ article series. It is now time to get started. How can you prepare for the future of food? Ecosystem collaboration, a clear vision, and profound transformation are key.
Responsible production and waste management
The world population and global food demand are growing, while planetary boundaries are already under pressure. Prepare for the future of food with these articles on a more sustainable future of food.

The Right to Repair Movement
A circular economy could tackle our planet’s challenges in the field of climate, biodiversity and pollution. With the 'right to repair' legislative proposal, which is included in the EU Green Deal, the European Commission (EC) aims to create such a circular economy. It aims to stimulate more sustainable usage of goods and reduce waste. The proposal will likely be adopted in the third quarter of 2022 and entails amendments to existing rights in the Sale of Goods Directive as well as a new right to repair. In this article, we will discuss the introduction of new sustainability product requirements, the legislative implications, potential future impacts, and business opportunities.
