Waking up to the cost of nature loss
Nature and climate change are closely linked. Climate change is one driver of nature loss, and nature loss continues to drive climate change and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Nature-based Solutions (NbS), such as restoration and conservation, are driving many GHG mitigation opportunities that could help companies, and the world, reach emissions reduction targets by 2030, generate significant cost savings, and reduce the intensity of climate hazards.
Assessing Nature-based Solutions for business growth
Implementing NbS can strategically position companies to address a spectrum of nature-related risks—ranging from physical and transition risks to systemic threats—while simultaneously allowing the company to unlock growth opportunities.
Incorporating nature into core strategy can allow businesses to discover untapped value. Some of the main benefits may include:

Our services and capabilities
Interest in nature-related disclosures is growing rapidly among many stakeholders. The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) has introduced new guidelines addressing biodiversity, pollution, and water. Additionally, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) lays out comprehensive nature-related reporting requirements for listed companies with substantial operations in Europe starting in the financial year 2024. It’s important that companies start preparing to identify and understand which nature-related issues are material to their business.
We advise organizations on addressing the expectations of their stakeholders including investors, standard-setters, and regulators and can advise you on ways to:
- Evaluate nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks, and opportunities.
- Align on nature-related ambition and setting nature-related targets.
- Apply TNFD's LEAP framework to locate, evaluate, assess, and prepare for nature-related topics.
- Prepare for nature-related surveys and disclosures in line with TNFD, CSRD, CDP, and regulatory requirements, such as European Union Deforestation-free Regulation.
