Leading the change, together

MADE combines both financial support and the depth of resources an organization of Deloitte‘s size can bring to attract diverse individuals into the accounting field and support them as they chart their path: from high school to business professional to industry leadership. Our MADE commitment, which includes accounting scholarships, is a comprehensive strategy to work to address the major barriers faced by racially and ethnically diverse students and to grow the population of diverse talent—thus helping transform the future of the accounting profession.

Commitments

Audit & Assurance Stride CPA readiness program

Recruited entry-level professionals/CPA candidates

Deloitte seeks to address the barriers faced by recruited professionals taking the CPA exam by supporting their preparation. Deloitte has collaborated with Wake Forest University’s faculty to create an in-person program for approximately 10 weeks with real-time access to and instruction from experienced CPA tutors. Participants will be compensated and expected to sit for all four parts of the exam during this rigorous program.

Deloitte Academy: Accounting Edition program

High school students

Deloitte is committed to inspiring and preparing youth for long-term success by collaborating with high schools, colleges, state CPA societies, and various nonprofits to bring accounting to life for thousands of racially and ethnically diverse youth across the country.

Climb Fellowship program

Mid-level accounting professionals

Deloitte collaborated with Carnegie Mellon University's Tepper School of Business to launch a fellowship program with a focus on bringing Black and Hispanic/Latinx mid-career accounting professionals together to create a community and provide resources to help position them for senior roles within their organizations.

Applications for the Fall 2023 cohort are open.

MADE Working Group

Accounting ecosystem leaders

The MADE working group brings together racially and ethnically diverse business, academic, and community leaders to contribute leading external perspectives, challenge our thinking, and create a forum to engage with one another. These leaders bring a vast array of experiences and passions to advance equity and inclusion.

Board-Ready for MADE

Senior finance or accounting NABA/ALPFA members

Board-Ready for MADE seeks to address a critical equity and corporate governance challenge by creating programing that is primarily intended to support and empower primarily Black and Hispanic/Latinx accounting or finance professionals with the interest and experience to be considered for nomination to a public company board or directorship, but who might not have a playbook for starting the journey.

Deloitte Foundation Programs

The Deloitte Foundation supports the following programs that work in parallel with Deloitte’s MADE commitment.

Deloitte Foundation Accounting Scholars Program

Graduate accounting students

The Deloitte Foundation expects to provide nearly $25 million over the next several years in financial support to help fund scholarships for students pursuing a fifth-year master‘s program in accounting, master's of tax program, or master's of accounting program with concentration in audit, advisory or tax at participating colleges and universities, aiming to consider applicants from diverse demographic groups in the spirit of supporting a diverse student population. Applications for the 2024-2025 school year will open in fall 2023 with scholarships to be granted in 2024.

Strategic Support for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs)

Academia and Undergraduate Students

The Deloitte Foundation expects to provide grants to select HBCUs/HSIs for faculty/curriculum development, and other academic program needs over the next several years.

Thurgood Marshall College Fund/Deloitte Foundation HBCU Accounting Scholarship Program

Undergraduate HBCU Students

The Deloitte Foundation is proud to offer financial assistance through the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) to eligible students majoring in accounting while attending a TMCF member-school or Historically Black College and University (HBCU). Up to seventy (70) scholars will be selected to receive a need-based renewable scholarship up to $4,000 per semester beginning Fall 2023 (which can only be applied to verifiable costs associated with average tuition and usual fees).
