Man on top of a mountain

Positioning your ERM program to inform the Strategic Review and Other Leadership Discussions

Hosted by the Partnership for Public Service and Deloitte

The Partnership for Public Service and Deloitte are hosting an open event on February 21, 2018 to help federal leaders understand the benefits of integrating enterprise risk management (ERM) with agency-wide management activities and provide leading practices for agencies to consider when beginning the integration process.

Event overview

Since the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) issued updates to OMB Circular No. A-123 in 2016, federal leaders have been working diligently to stand up and strengthen agency ERM programs. As these programs continue to mature, federal agencies can leverage their ERM programs to enhance the value of other agency-wide management activities, including strategic planning, budget, performance management, and internal controls. Integrating ERM with these activities can support and increase the value of these activities and better inform agency decision-making.

During the event, you will learn about:
  • OMB's expectations for agencies' ERM programs and how integrating ERM with other management functions can enhance agencies' reporting to OMB,
  • Common techniques and integration points that agencies are using to integrate their ERM programs with strategic planning, budget, internal controls, and performance management functions, and
  • Leading practices and lessons learned from ERM leaders who are integrating ERM with agency-wide management activities.

If you are unable to join the event in-person, please register for the live stream.

Learn more on tackling ERM in government

Federal agencies face unprecedented risks to achieving their mission, goals, and objectives. To confront this dynamic risk environment, OMB raised the bar and expects agencies to effectively identify and manage risks using an enterprise approach. These expectations and related requirements are prescribed in a revised OMB Circular A-123 titled, "Management’s Responsibly for Enterprise Risk Management and Internal Control."
