Challenge/Opportunity: A leading global consumer packaged goods retailer engaged Deloitte to help them use analytics to transform their underutilized wealth of data into insights that enable more transparency to, and improvement in, marketing investment effectiveness. The project objective was to develop analytical capabilities that create data-driven insights to inform and improve marketing effectiveness, which included purchase process analysis, campaign results management, marketing mix modeling, and customer engagement analytics.
Solution: Deloitte analyzed both digital and offline marketing channels to determine data collected from each channel and examine the impact and interplay of digital and offline marketing efforts. Through the analysis, Deloitte identified the productivity and value of each marketing channel. Deloitte team used predictive analytics in early customer lifecycle to develop attrition risk signals and predict attrition. A model that predicts attrition for the entire customer population was developed. Models were then fine-tuned based on interdependent factors and correlations of the customer’s channels.
Impact: With the help of Deloitte, the client was able to develop mature analytical capabilities including purchase process analysis, campaign results management, marketing mix modeling, and customer engagement analytics. This helped harness the wealth of data, get the right signals from the noise, transforming them into insights to drive better segmentation decisions and generate better outcomes for marketing investments.
