James has nearly 13 years of experience managing engagement teams and providing financial restructuring and advisory, claims administration services, valuation, due diligence, and turnaround services to distressed companies, lenders, bondholders, financial sponsors, and private equity investors. He has performed claims administrative services, operational restructurings, acquisition due diligence, liquidation analysis, and business plan preparation and reviews within a variety of industries. He has also worked closely with regulatory agencies (SIPC) and trustees in large financial institutional bankruptcies to distribute protected customer assets to rightful claimants.

Some of James’ notable engagements include:

  • $2.3 billion broker dealer–Assisted the distribution of commodities and securities to allowed customers under SIPC guidelines for the second largest financial institutional US Bankruptcy, MF Global
  • $15 billion diversified financial institution–Led the allowed customer distribution work stream under SIPC guidelines for the largest financial institution bankruptcy in US history, Lehman Brothers
  • $4.0 billion specialty chemical manufacturer–Advised and provided bankruptcy and claims administrative services for Chemtura Corporation , one of the largest publicly traded specialty chemical companies in the United States, with 2008 revenue of approximately $4 billion, in its Chapter 11 reorganization
  • $75 million equipment manufacturer–Advised management and private equity investor on financial and operational turnaround, including review of business plans, profitability analysis, expense reduction strategies, 13-week rolling cash flow model, monthly bank reporting, loan and covenant default analysis, and negotiation of restructuring alternatives
  • $200 million transportation company–Advised bank group, performed location and site visits that included liquidation analysis, business valuation, and restructuring modeling management
  • $10 million retailer–Advised management on implementation of corporate closure plans for part or all of business including development of liquidation plans, bankruptcy scenarios, transition to new management, employee retention, and deal with employee issues pre-bankruptcy “WARN” act
  • Aircraft maintenance company–Advised management and private equity investors on business plan evaluation, 13-week rolling cash flow model, and purchase agreement adjustments; also negotiated with company’s existing vendors to manage cash flows by delayed payables and improved accounts receivables
  • $1 billion energy company–financial advisor for Chapter 11 restructuring and sale of non-core businesses; worked on reduction of corporate overhead structure by $20 million annually
  • $700 million technology staffing–performed financial due diligence, operational review, customer profitability analysis, and industry assessment for bank group
  • $100 million medical device manufacturer–performed business and operational review, validating sales forecasts for private equity firm’s portfolio company
