Mike Butler

Mike is a tax senior manager in Deloitte’s M&A Transaction Services practice. He has more than 11 years of public accounting experience, of which over 9 have been as a dedicated M&A tax specialist. He has transactional experience in a variety of industries including life science & healthcare, aerospace & defense, automotive, energy, consumer business/retail, technology, and financial services.

Mike advises private equity and strategic clients on the tax aspects and structuring of taxable and tax-free transactions. He has extensive experience assisting clients assessing various tax structures, assessing tax benefits, and identifying both value impacting tax risks and opportunities.

In addition, Mike advises troubled businesses through both in-court and out-of-court restructurings, on a variety of structures to retain valuable tax attributes (e.g., NOLs, tax credits, etc.), maximizing value and flexibility for all parties involved. 

Mike is a licensed CPA in the District of Columbia and Michigan, and has both a BS and MS in Accounting from Michigan State University.
