Teresa Thomas

Teresa is a partner in Deloitte’s Risk & Financial Advisory practice and serves as the US Advisory Leader for the Energy & Chemicals sector. With more than 20 years of experience in the energy industry, she assists companies in assessing the impact of changes resulting from shifting regulations, new accounting standards, and capital market transactions.

Teresa provides clients with consultative services and enabling solutions to help address complex business process and reporting challenges, including accounting for financial instruments, consolidations, leases, and hedge accounting. In addition to technical consultations, she has extensive experience assisting clients in operationalizing their business transactions through both merger integration and business carveout activities. Teresa routinely consults with clients on accounting for structured products, back-office accounting and reporting processes, executive management reporting, and energy transacting internal controls.

Recognizing her impact on businesses in the industry, Oil and Gas Investor and Hart Energy announced on December 8, 2022 its annual “25 Influential Women in Energy” honorees for 2023 – which includes Teresa. This program honors professional women who have excelled in each sector of the oil and gas industry.

Teresa began her career at Deloitte in the external audit practice, then rejoined Deloitte after working 10 years for a diversified energy company.
