Deloitte's Philip Tsai & Yvonne Law received HKSAR's Award

Deloitte is delighted to announce that Philip Tsai, Chairman of Deloitte China, and Yvonne Law, Senior Advisor of Deloitte China, were given the Bronze Bauhinia Star Award on 30 June 2017 by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR in recognition of their significant contributions to Hong Kong and for their dedicated public and community services. Both Philip and Yvonne have made significant impacts to the professional services arena and to the Hong Kong community, and Deloitte would like to take this opportunity to congratulate them on this well-deserved achievement. As Chairman of Deloitte China, Philip has had more than 35 years of experience in planning and managing audits for Hong Kong-based operations of MNCs, locally and overseas listed clients from a diverse range of industries. He is a Past President of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accounts and a member of the Hong Kong Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. In addition to his many contributions to the CPA profession, he also makes a lot of impact in various government, community and social service organisations. Such public roles include being a Director of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, a Member of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, a Director of the Urban Renewal Fund Limited, a Director of the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education, a Member of the Women's Commission, a Member of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Advisory Committee, an Advisor of The Ombudsman, Hong Kong, a Member of the Registration Committee of the Chinese Gold and Silver Exchange, a Member of Share Registrars' Disciplinary Committee of the Securities and Futures Commission and a Member of the Standing Committee on Disciplined Service Salaries and Conditions of Services of the Civil Service Bureau of the HKSAR Government. He was also a former Non-Executive Director of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority and a former Member of the 3RS Committee of the Hong Kong Airport Authority.

Philip is also active in the education field. He is an Adjunct Professor of the City University of Hong Kong, the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Accounting and Finance and a member of the Advisory Committee of the Faculty of Business of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, an External Advisor of the Department of Accountancy & Law of Hong Kong Baptist University, a Trustee of the Staff Superannuation Scheme and a Member of the Advisory Board on Accounting Studies of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Member of the Institutional Advancement and Outreach Committee of the University Council of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Further, Philip is committed to public health matters in Hong Kong, being a Member (and a former Chairman) of the Hospital Governing Committee of the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Services, a Deputy Chairman of the Hong Kong Red Cross, a Member of the Dress Casual Day Organising Committee of the Community Chest. He was also a former Chairman of the Hong Kong Bone Marrow Donor Registry, the Expert Panel on Blood and Blood Products Safety and the Expert Panel on Cellular Therapy.

Prior to being Senior Advisor, Yvonne was a Partner at Deloitte China for more than 26 years. She is the Past President, Founding and Council Member of the Association of Women Accountants Hong Kong, Past Chairwoman of the HKICPA Taxation Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce – Taxation Committee, Fellow Member of the HKICPA, ACCA, Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrations, Member of the Society of Chinese Accountants and Auditors, Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, as well as a Certified Tax Advisor of the Taxation Institute of Hong Kong. As a recognition of her esteemed work in tax advisory, Yvonne was named the Leading Tax Advisor in Hong Kong & Mainland by the International Tax Review for 15 consecutive years from 2001 to 2015. She was also named as one of the World's Leading Women in Business Law by the Legal Media Group from 2012 to 2014, and a National Hundred Outstanding Women Entrepreneur by the China Association of Women Entrepreneurs in 2006.

Yvonne has also made many impacts in the public sector. In the healthcare field, she has been the Chairwoman of Hospital Governing Committee of Shatin Hospital since 2011, Chairwoman of the Hong Kong Hospital Authority Regional Advisory Committee of Kowloon from 2010 to 2013, and a Board Member of the Hong Kong HA from 2007 to 2013. In the public justice field, she has been a member of the ICAC's Corruption Prevention Advisory Committee since 2015, and was a member of its Citizens Advisory Committee on Community Relations. Further, Yvonne has also held numerous high-level roles on the Home Affairs Bureau, the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau, the Development Bureau, and the HKSAR Government.

Further, Yvonne has strong ties with Hong Kong's tertiary education sector. She has been awarded Hong Kong Polytechnic University Fellow in 2016/2017, HK PolyU Outstanding Alumna in 2007 and HK PolyU Inaugural Outstanding Accountancy Alumni in 2000/2001.
